Founded in 2014 by Conrad Barnard, M Store is a boutique practice with a vision to reinstate confidence in women who have had a mastectomy. Through collaborating with Satin Candy, M Store provides easier access to products with stores in Kloof and in Durban. The process is simple, dignified and has exceptional end-results.
How it Works
Step 1 – Getting the details
The first step is to set up an appointment with M Store at one of the Satin Candy stores. Here the M Store consultant will welcome you and gather a detailed patient history which includes:
- Assessing clinical conditions
- Determining range of motion and activity level
- Determining skin condition and suiting fabric to it
- Assessing whether any pain or discomfort is felt with current bras
Step 2 – Let’s talk
After the practical information is gathered, bras and breast forms are introduced, and preferences are discussed with the goal of finding the most suited product. M Store also discusses the process of claiming from medical aid and what to do if the garment or bra exceeds standard coverage. Questions are answered and reassurance given where needed.
Step 3 – Measuring time
A Certified Mastectomy Fitter then takes measurements. This can be done wearing a tight fitting t-shirt, if it’s uncomfortable doing it without a shirt.
Step 4 – Selecting a bra and prostheses
Once measurements are taken, a bra is selected. There are several styles available to suit all preferences and tastes. Once a well-fitting bra is selected, the breast prostheses is discussed and tried. Because there are a variety of options, it is important to try forms until optimum comfort, mobility and symmetry are achieved.
Step 5 – Taking the bra and prostheses home
Once the perfect fit and medical aid approval is achieved, the bras and breast forms can be taken home if it’s in stock. If not, it’s ordered and shouldn’t take too long. When it’s delivered, a final fitting is required to make sure everything is in order.
The process is simple, dignified and the end result is excellent. Contact us if you have any further questions.
